Tahitian Squash (winter)
(Cucurbita moschata)

Shaped like a butternut squash, but reaches 2-3 feet long. Ripens tan in color. Will last all year on the shelf. A suitable length of the neck can be sliced off for a meal, and if left standing upright, the cut on the leftover squash will heal over with a sugar coating on its own.
Direct sow after last frost in hills of 4 seeds every 3 feet. Can also grow on a fence.
