We are seeking gardeners of all skill levels to participate in our annual Gardening Challenge. We provide the seeds, & you grow them. (This is not a seed giveaway!)

How It Works

Seeking Trial Growers!
Every year Mississippi Foundation for Renewable Energy trials different varieties of garden vegetables & other sustainable crops in various regions all around the world. We call it the "Gardening Challenge".


We are currently seeking trial growers with experience in gardening or farming. 


How it works.....
Our plant breeders will choose varieties based on your region & the type of growing you currently do. 

You will be provided with seeds which you will plant using natural, organic, sustainable practices. You will collect data throughout the process which you will post to the "Gardening Challenge" Group Page (This Is Manditory!).


Many of our trial growers are in residential areas with limited space, while others are on larger homesteads & production farms. This mix of growers works well for our trials, so whether you are a backyard bucket grower or a large scale production farm, there is a place for you within our network. Greenhouse & indoor growers are also welcome.


The biggest requirement to participate in the 2026 "Gardening Challenge" is a commitment to active participation throughout the season. This means regularly posting pictures, videos, & detailed observations or questions on on the Gardening Challenge Group Page. Data that you share about your growing experience is used by our breeders in their research & development of new varieties of edible plant life.

Register by submitting the form below. We will choose our trial growers from a pool of gardeners who have registered.

Last year all of our trial growers grew the same crop (Armenian Cucumber). This year we will be trialing multiple varieties. Varieties will be posted on the group page soon, & all of them are unique & rare sustainable crops.
