Senna is a perennial herb that grows naturally in eastern North America. Senna has many uses, from a natural laxative to a substitute for coffee depending on what part of the plant is used.
In some parts of the world a high protein meat substitute is made from crushed fermented leaves. Beautiful yellow flowers give way to long slender edible beans.
Grows to a height of 3-5 feet.
Will spread by rhizome.
Plant scarified seeds in fall or spring, 1/8 inch deep, either in containers or directly in the ground.
