Rabbiteye blueberry bushes are easy to maintain & harvest by hand. Homegrown blueberries, like most anything you grow yourself, are rivaled by no other. There are so many ways to enjoy them! Freeze them for a cool summertime snack. Make juice or jelly. Cobblers & pies are another delectable desert that can be made with blueberries, or you might enjoy a cold glass of blueberry juice on a hot summer day (homemade blueberry ice cream is one of our favorites).
Plant seeds a few months before your average last frost date. Sow seeds on top of peat or sphagnum (they require light for germination). Seeds germinate in about 2-3 months when kept at 60-70 degrees fahrenheit. Keep seeds moist by spritzing with a spray bottle, or place a thin damp paper towel over the seeds. When seedlings are around three inches tall, carefully transplant them into four inch pots or similar. Plant seedlings in ground after your last frost date.
